Unittesting with the Google Test Framework

After reading a bit about Test Driven Development (TDD ) I decided to completely change my way of coding. I wanted to learn how TDD works. So I looked for a course that teaches you how to use unittests. I eventually found a course on Udemy. It was a course that covered unittesting with the Google Test Framework.

I followed the course and I am now on half of the course. I still need to watch the Google Mock part. I decided I didn’t know much about C++ 11. So I started again to read about it. I started in C++ How to program International 9th edition which I could buy cheap secondhand. I found almost all examples and exercises on Gitlab.

I learned a bit about regular expressions and how to use them to validate variables. So I started to work on the weatherstation record code. (wsRecord) I needed to brainstorm all the possible tests I could write… So I needed a ToDo-list. I remembered an application called ToDoList. So I downloaded it and installed it.

It is a nice application that just does the job ok. So now I got the things I need to further learn how to write unittests and develop my wsRecord class. It will take me some time to become familiar with it. But when I know enough it will go faster and I write much better code. I will write about my progress in future posts.
